I’m a Dutch Doula in Italy helping you move through a conscious pregnancy and birth with clarity, choice and confidence, away from home.
I’m Margaretha – a Dutch doula, HypnoBirthing® teacher, and mother, Iiving in the north of Italy since 2013. I guide women and families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum with calm, confidence, and trust in their own instincts.
My work is about breaking old cycles of fear around childbirth and replacing them with something far
more powerful – empowerment, education, choice, and connection to your body’s wisdom.
My Turning Point
When I became pregnant In Italy, I expected birth to be as natural and woman-centered as In the Netherlands. Instead, I found a system where Interventions were often routine, and women’s voices weren’t always heard. That experience changed everything for me. I started searching for a different way – one that honored the body, the baby, and the deep Intuition within every woman. That’s when I discovered midwifery-led care, HypnoBirthing®, and the Incredible strength that comes from understanding and trusting your body. That moment lit a fire in me: to help women in Italy reclaim birth as a natural, empowering, and deeply personal experience – whether that happens at home, In a hospital, or In a birth home.
I understand what it feels like to navigate the Italian medical system – as a foreigner, a mother, and a woman seeking a gentler path. That’s why my work blends the best of two worlds
I bring the Dutch midwifery approach – calm, evidence-based, woman- centered – together with a deep understanding of Italian maternity care and its network.
Emotional, physical, and Informational guidance for you and your partner – every step of the way.
Since 2015, I work with expat families in Italy through pregnancy, birth, and the transition into parenthood—helping you find calm, confidence, and a real sense of belonging, even when everything around you feels unfamiliar. From understanding the Italian birth system to using HypnoBirthing techniques that keep you grounded, my role is to help you feel at home in your body and your journey. If you crave support that truly understands both the emotional and cultural sides of becoming a parent abroad, I’d love to connect.
A few years ago I had the opportunity to publish my life story in this beautiful book. From my breaking point at 25, while working in the healthcare industry, to finding myself again through important lessons of life.
Reconnecting to my Italian roots and finding the love of my life, while breaking generational trauma in a foreign country, now my home country Italy.
